As she looked back at the trainings that MBC and PhilRads conducted in response to the aftermath of the tropical storm Urduja, Ptra. Roxaida Gundayao described it as “kamay ng Panginoon” or the hands of God working to reach out to the people in Biliran. For her, it was God’s love for the community in Brgy. Sangalang.
Mahal Ako Sa Diyos School Supplies is the business that started operating in Brgy. Sangalang in December 2018. It is the product of the trainings that taught the beneficiaries how to start a business and how to operate it. The business might struggle in that they have many elderly and women with children in their group, but they work together to come up with solutions to the issues they face. They are a community of believers who are striving to work and grow together.
Besides job creation and income, there is also a big spiritual impact in the group. Many of them recognize the value of the biblical based business principles. When the project began, Ptra. Roxaida estimates that there was only about 25% of the group who were believers. And now many of them made the choice to bring a change in life and recognize the need of guidance. One member even shared that her child could not wait to go with her to the life-coaching meetings, because of the business group consistently gather together to nurture their souls as well as their business.
